From invisible to must-visit destination.

A bit of context.
Their move to a new exciting (though still under construction) location, the Walkie Talkie building, was the catalyst for Markel to articulate a stand-out vision for the company – One Markel - markedly different from its neighbours.

Our brief.
To define that vision, and through interior architecture bring it alive, transforming the space from a fragmented, me-to into a distinctive, appealing destination that impacts on brokers and employees alike.

Our big idea?
‘Reasons to Visit’
By designing a space that broke down departmental barriers and combining classic, high-end style with more human, quirky touches, we created a highly desirable, cohesive, must-visit destination. All in keeping with the brand, yet with a relevant look-at-me twist.

Overcoming challenges
With the Walkie Talkie under construction and with an immoveable move-in deadline, EDGE ran an innovative, off-site modular approach to the fit-out. Using Revit BIM production information, a large percentage of the project was completed off-site before we started interior construction, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery.

Results
Since the move, Markel has reported a beyond expected increase in visitors.

And this is what Hugh Maltby, Operations Director had to say…

‘Everyone’s excited to be here and we really have created our very own exceptional destination to visit.
